                                  United Methodist Youth Fellowship

The United Methodist Youth Fellowship is a Christ-centered ministry dedicated to making a difference in the lives of youth and empowering them to make a difference in the world. We provide unique experiences through fellowship, recreation, service, worship, and study.

Our youth team delivers worthwhile opportunities and plans events in the following areas:

Missions: Our annual week-long summer mission trips have taken us to Savannah, Georgia to renovate homes; to Port Arthur, Texas for hurricane recovery; and we recently returned from Busby, Montana where we renovated homes on the Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation. We also do monthly mission projects, including Operation Christmas Child, the world-wide “30 Hour Famine”, preparing Thanksgiving Food Baskets for needy families, serving meals with the Denver Rescue Mission, and food drives for the Douglas/Elbert Task Force.

Education: Youth Sunday School for youth in grades 7 – 12 meets at 10:45 on Sunday morning. Additionally, we provide mentored study tables and socialization on Wednesday evenings from 6 to 8 pm.  We meet for breakfast on the tird Friday of the month at 6:15 in the morning, and we offer a wide range of special events including guest speakers on grief & depression, Internet awareness & cyber-bullying, dealing with divorce, suicide prevention, and preparing for college.  From January through May, we hold confirmation class for youth who wish to grow in an understanding of their faith and make a formal commitment to leading the Christian life.

Social: While summer activities include spending a day at Water World, going to a Rockies game, enjoying movie nights, scavenger hunts and pool parties, our winter activities are also engaging: overnight lock-ins, sledding and skating, and the annual state-wide gathering of youth—Rejuvenation. We have sponsored an All Hallows Eve celebration for the children of our church, gone caroling in Castle Rock, and laughed over the crazy white elephant gift exchange at our annual Christmas Party.

Performing Arts: UMPS (United Methodist Performers) is a group of youth sharing God’s word through puppetry, liturgical dance, sign language and skits. Not only have they performed locally in the Denver-Metro area, but they have taken their performances to the Black Hills and San Francisco. In November youth plan and lead the worship services on Saturday evening and Sunday morning.

Fund Raising: To help youth underwrite the cost of mission trips and retreats, youth participate in major fund raisers such as serving at the Time and Talent Luncheon in November, preparing a dinner, silent auction and letter writing campaign in the spring. In the past year, youth have also served at Applebee’s and Coldstone, where a portion of the proceeds goes to our funds and have encouraged people to dine at Arby’s, Chili’s and Chic-fil-A for a portion of the mail receipts.

If you are looking for a great place for your son or daughter to connect with other Christian teens or are a parent who would like to volunteer for our youth team, please contact any of our youth leaders for our current calendar and more information.
