Youth

    United Methodist Youth Fellowship

The United Methodist Youth Fellowship is a Christ-centered ministry dedicated to making a difference in the lives of youth and empowering them to make a difference in the world. We provide unique experiences through fellowship, recreation, service, worship, and study.

Our youth team delivers worthwhile opportunities and plans events in the following areas:

Missions: Our annual week-long summer mission trips have taken us to Savannah, Georgia to renovate homes; to Port Arthur, Texas for hurricane recovery; to Busby, Montana where we renovated homes on the Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation, and to Las Vegas, Nevada where we participated in community service projects serving the REAL people of Las Vegas. We also do monthly mission projects, including Operation Christmas Child, the world-wide “30 Hour Famine”, preparing Thanksgiving Food Baskets for needy families, serving meals with the Denver Rescue Mission, and food drives for the Douglas/Elbert Task Force.

Education: Sunday school for youth in grades 7-12 meets Sunday mornings at 9:15am except during the summer.  It is a time to study scriptures concerning our Christian faith so we can discover what we believe, why we believe, and how we believe it.  A Christian educational component will at times be part of the Wednesday night event for the youth.  Come and be blessed!

Social: While summer activities include spending a day at Water World, going to a Rockies game, enjoying movie nights, scavenger hunts and pool parties, our winter activities are also engaging: overnight lock-ins, sledding and skating, and the annual state-wide gathering of youth—Rejuvenation. We have sponsored an All Hallows Eve celebration for the children of our church, gone caroling in Castle Rock, and laughed over the crazy white elephant gift exchange at our annual Christmas Party.

Performing Arts: UMPS (United Methodist Performers) is a group of youth sharing God’s word through puppetry, liturgical dance, sign language and skits. Not only have they performed locally in the Denver-Metro area, but they have taken their performances to the Black Hills, San Francisco, and most recently to New Orleans. In November, youth plan and lead the worship services on Saturday evening and Sunday morning.

Fundraising:   Fundraising helps our youth families with the cost of mission trips, UMPS Mystery Trips and retreats.  There are three major fundraisers such as serving at the Time & Talent Luncheon in November, a Letter Writing Campaign in February and preparing a Dinner & Silent Auction in April.  We also have Youth for Hire and the money raised from that person working goes into their youth account.

If you are looking for a great place for your son or daughter to connect with other Christian teens or are a parent who would like to volunteer for our youth team, please see the contact information below to obtain our current calendar or for more information.
