This week we will have a pulpit swap with Rev. Calob Rundell is an Ordained Elder and has been serving as the lead minister of St. Luke's UMC in Highlands Ranch since 2024. He has served churches across all parts of Colorado for over a decade. Calob is passionate about the transformative inclusion of the Gospel of Christ. Before becoming a pastor, he served with the Army in Iraq, worked for the IRS, and grew up on a ranch. Calob's main hobbies are snowboarding and spending time with his 12-year-old yellow lab-esque dog. His favorite scriptures are Isaiah 55 and Luke 19:1-10.

What is Community Faith Time? While some may think of Sunday School as formal classes, we see this as something more—an intentional space for connection and spiritual growth. Our faith grows best when we journey together, and our three unique settings create room for everyone:

Nursery (ages newborn–4): A caring space where our youngest members are loved and nurtured, giving parents and older siblings the opportunity to participate in other groups.
Living In Faith Together (LIFT Group, ages 5+): In the Fellowship Hall, all ages gather to learn, play, and share wisdom together, strengthening the bonds of our church family.
Soul Café (Adults): A relaxed, conversational space to reflect on the day’s sermon and dive deeper into what it means to live out our faith in daily life.
Fellowship Space: Grab a snack and coffee or tea and just fellowship.

If you’d like to join a group or volunteer, especially in the Nursery, please email Pastor Matt.

Time and Talent: It's time to prepare for our annual Time and Talent Auction and Luncheon on Sunday, November 9, at 11 am in Fellowship Hall. This fundraiser supports Trustees, Missions, and the Youth Mission trip, with a goal of raising at least $10,000.

Consider donating your time or special talents. Past items/services include hosting meals, homemade goods, gift certificates, gardening, and vacation weeks.

Green pledge forms are available at the Welcome Desk and should be returned by Thursday, November 6. Join us for a delicious lunch and the chance to bid on donated items from our Church family.

Bell Choir: Rehearsing 4 pm. on Wednesday’s. If You are interested in joining this group that performs periodically during worship, text or call Nancy Docksey at 303-877-9085.

Tuesday Morning Bible Study: All are welcome to join us at 9:30am in the church library.

Trunk or Treat: This year’s Little Blessings Trunk or Treat will be October 28, from 2 to 3pm in the church parking lot. The sign up sheet and candy box for Trunk or Treat is by the welcome desk. We are also in need of magazines for the children to cut pictures out of. If anyone has any old ones lying around. They can drop them off in the church front office. Coffee Doughnut Assistance Needed Two volunteers are need for the third Sunday of the month to set out doughnuts and prepare the coffee and hot water at 8:30 am. These volunteers also clean up after people have gone into their spaces or after they have finished with class. Please contact Lisa Andrews lisajean1954@gmail.com if you can help.

Chain of Prayers for Kairos On October 26th, check in with John Tamborski in the narthex to write send a brief prayer for the incarcerated men he will meet with in Buena Vista from November 6-9. These prayers are quite impactful to the recipients. Materials for writing are provided.

Participate in the Sand Creek Healing Run

You are invited to the Sand Creek Healing Run from October 23rd – 26th, a significant event for healing and remembrance. The run will travel from Eads, CO, to Limon, CO, ending in Denver, CO, and you can join any part of the journey.

Ways to get involved include:

Fundraising: Approximately $1,000–$1,200 is needed for each elder or descendant to participate. Talk to Pastor Matt how donations can be made.
Running in Solidarity: Join in relay groups.
Meal Preparation: Help prepare and serve meals for participants.
Pray and Presence: Support through prayer, whether in person or spiritually.

Celebrate Women’s Christmas – Saturday, December 6, from 10 am – 2 pm. All women are invited to celebrate Women’s Christmas. This is a time for women to take a few hours near the beginning of the holiday season to refocus, relax, and renew. Feel free to invite a friend. Lunch will be provided. The day will be led by Ashley Franks

All Saints Sunday is on November 2nd, a day to remember those who have passed. A ribbon banner will be available at the Welcome Desk. To honor a loved one who died in the last year, write their name on paper and attach it with a bell and ribbon before the service. Names will be read during worship, and a sign-up sheet will ensure all names are included; the deadline for submissions is October 29th.

Volunteer Church Secretary(s) We are looking for a volunteer church secretary for the First United Methodist Church of Castle Rock. This position is crucial for our daily operations and outreach. The volunteer will welcome visitors, manage communications, and keep the office organized. The role includes answering phones, maintaining the church calendar, and helping with Sunday materials. The secretary will also keep staff informed of member needs, such as illnesses or deaths. There is a sign up sheet at the welcome desk and training will be dependent upon persons availability.

If you notice bulletins or personal items left behind after the service you attend, please take them to one of the following places: recycling bin in the office (bulletins), trash cans (tissues and coffee cups), office counter (personal items).
