Prison Ministry.

On March 6th, the opportunity to help with the backpack portion of our Prison Ministry begins with donation cards available for pick up.  Mike Vitek notes that 48 backpacks (36 for men and 12 for women) are needed for this mission project benefitting the Douglas County Detentions Center who distribute them to the inmates. We purchase backpacks and then fill them with a wide variety of personal items and devotional material. The supplies and monetary donations for the backpacks need to be returned to the Church by Sunday, March 30th.

The Disciple’s Table – A sacred gathering where all generations come together to share in fellowship, grow in faith, and walk the path of discipleship. Rooted in the Lenten journey, we explore how our prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness shape our commitment to Christ. Around the table, we learn from one another, encourage each other, and seek to follow Jesus more fully in our daily lives. All are welcome as we journey together on The Disciple’s Path.

Meeting Time and Day: 6:00 p.m. on Sundays during Lent. Sign Up Sheet at the Welcome Desk

Soup-er Bowl Food Drive for Help & Hope

773 pounds of nonperishable food items were taken to the food pantry for Help & Hope.  We thank everyone who contributed to this project. Our next collection date is set for Mother’s Day on  May 11 when we look for contributions in diapers, baby formula, and baby food in addition to nonperishable food items.

Your welcoming smile and kind words will be a blessing to our guests.

The book chosen is Life of the Beloved: Spiritual Living in a Secular World by Henri J. M. Nouwen, who writes: "All I want to say to you is, 'You are the Beloved,' and all I hope is that you can hear these words as spoken to you with all the tenderness and force that love can hold. My only desire is to make these words reverberate in every corner of your being - 'You are the Beloved.’’"

Quote for the Week

How can we expect our children to know and experience the joy of giving unless we teach them that the greater pleasure in life lies in the art of giving rather than receiving. ~ James Cash Penney

Weekly Prayer

Oh Lord of Love, giver of peace,  In your boundless compassion, grant me the gift of empathy. Help me feel the pain and joy of others as deeply as if it were my own. Guide my actions so that I may understand their needs and extend a helping hand with a heart wide open. I thank you for the privilege of sharing in the beauty of empathy and pray that you fill me with the strength to be a source of solace to those in need.

I am grateful for the opportunity to connect with the suffering and joys of those around me. May I be a vessel of your boundless compassion, a beacon of hope, and a source of comfort. Amen.
