Call to Worship Rev. Sarah Steidtmann
Leader: Come, people of God, and let us draw near the cross of Christ.
People: We come, heavy with the weight of the world.
Leader: Come, see the cost of divine love — a love that stands with the oppressed, the broken, and the forgotten.
People: We come, knowing that love, though costly, is stronger than hatred.
Leader: Come, not with blame or bitterness, but with humility and reverence.
People: We come, trusting that even now, love is at work in the world.
Leader: Let us worship the God of costly love, who in Jesus, entered our suffering to set us free.
Opening Prayer Rev. Sarah SteidtmannAll: Holy God, On this day of shadows and sorrow, We come to stand in the company of those who witnessed your crucifixion. Not as bystanders of another's suffering, but as participants in the world's brokenness. Forgive us when we choose comfort over courage. Forgive us when we remain silent when we should speak out. Forgive us when we turn away from the cross of Christ and avoid its discomfort. Tonight, we remember the cost of love. Help us not to look away. In the name of the One who gave everything for us — Amen.
