Lord, Throughout These 40 days UMH 269

Call To Worship Rev. Sarah Steidtmann

Leader: God calls the church to pray. All: Prayer opens our hearts to God. Prayer ushers us into God's presence. Leader: God calls the church to pray. All: Prayer reminds us of our weakness. Prayer connects us to God's strength. Leader: God calls the church to pray. All: Prayer reorients us to our source. Prayer invites us to humility and obedience.

+Hymn UMH 349 Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus

We Pray Together

Congregational Prayer Rev. Sarah Steidtmann

All: Holy God, we thank you for the example of Jesus who made prayer the bedrock of his life and taught us to do the same. Through prayer he received strength to choose faithfulness rather than give in to temptation. Through prayer he remained connected to you and was sustained by your Spirit for the tasks of ministry. Through prayer he healed, taught, forgave and called. Through prayer he met the trials of life with grace, refusing to react in anger, blame or condemnation. Merciful Savior, grant us a deeper desire for prayer as we seek to follow Christ's example. Amen.

Quote of the Week

The Lord’s Prayer is, to repeat, both a revolutionary manifesto and a hymn of radical hope. ~John Dominic Crossan The Greatest Prayer: Rediscovering The Revolutionary Message of the Lord’s Prayer

Weekly Prayer The Lord’s Prayer

O Great Spirit, Creator of the universe,

You are our Shepherd Chief in the most high place. Whose home is everywhere, even beyond the stars and moon.

Whatever you want done, let it, also be done everywhere. Give us your gift of bread day by day. Forgive us our wrongs as we forgive those who wrong us.

Take us away from wrong doings. Free us from all evil. For everything belongs to you. Let your power and glory shine forever. Amen.
