Prelude
Welcome & Greeting Rev. Matt Franks
Welcome to Worship with us here at Castle Rock FUMC. Our Mission is to share the light and love of God within our community and beyond. One of the ways we live into our mission is that in worship we connect to one another and to how God is speaking to us through, prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness. Let us connect to one another by greeting each other.
Hymn UMH 145 Morning Has Broken
1. Morning has broken like the first morning; blackbird has spoken like the first bird. Praise for the singing! Praise for the morning! Praise for them,
springing fresh from the Word!
2. Sweet the rain's new fall sunlit from heaven, like the first dewfall on the first grass. Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden,
sprung in completeness where his feet pass.
3.Mine is the sunlight! Mine is the morning born of the one light Eden saw play! Praise with elation, praise every morning, God's recreation of the new day!
Call To Worship Liturgist
All: God, whose imagination saw all that is good, beautiful, and loving, continues to see us as beloved children in the divine family. The Word which called forth the stars in every universe, speaks to us of giving ourselves through the baptismal life. The Spirit, which moved over creation, breathing life into all things, fills us with peace and patience, with hope and healing to share.
Special Music: Linda Pottenger to sing “Blessings”
We Pray Together
Call to Reconciliation Liturgist
Leader: We know too well our foolishness, our brokenness, our human ways of doing things. But God knows our hearts, our hopes, our desire to be made new. As we offer our prayers of confession, let us open ourselves to God, who will forgive us and give us new life.
Unison Prayer for Forgiveness
All: We have been created for goodness by you, Artist of all things, but we continue to be filled with bitterness. Your Word would enable us to speak of joy to others, but we offer only judgment. The Spirit which breathes hope into us could be shared with everyone we meet, but we are tempted to hold our breath until we turn blue, rather than giving peace to those around us.
But you have said that everything created is good, even we foolish children of yours, God of wonder and grace. With the Spirit as our sister, we know we can bring healing and hope to those who need it most. With your Word, Jesus Christ, as our brother, we know we can tell others of your mercy and of our love for them in every moment.
Assurance of Pardon Liturgist
Leader: By God’s grace, our chaotic choices become creative grace for others; our foolishness can be transformed by God’s goodness; our lives can become new by the Spirit of our God.
All: The good news is as true as it was on creation’s first morning: Creator God is the redeeming Word who is the Breath of life for all people, even us. Thanks be to God for forgiveness and grace in our lives. Amen.
The Pastoral Prayer Rev. Matt Franks
The Lord’s Prayer found in the UMH 895
All: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
Hymn No. 174 All Things Bright and Beautiful
1) All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small,
all things wise and wonderful: the Lord God made them all.
Each little flower that opens, each little bird that sings,
God made their glowing colors, and made their tiny wings.

Given by Rev. Matt Franks
Hymn of Response UMH 144 This Is My Father’s World
1. This is my Father's world, and to my listening ears all nature sings,
and round me rings the music of the spheres.
This is my Father's world: I rest me in the thought of rocks and trees,
of skies and seas; his hand the wonders wrought.
3. This is my Father's world.
O let me ne'er forget that though the wrong seems oft so strong, God is the ruler yet.
This is my Father's world: why should my heart be sad? The Lord is King;
let the heavens ring! God reigns; let the earth be glad!

Undistracted: Capture Your Purpose. Rediscover Your Joy. By Bob Goff
In Person Sessions, Mondays July 24, 2023 to September 18 2023 6:30PM to 8:30
Zoom Sessions, Fridays July 28 2023 to September 22 2023; 6:30PM to 8:30PM
Rev. Sarah will plan on having a signup sheet ready for the welcome desk on my first Sunday back (July 2).
Through his pithy and inspiring storytelling that has endeared him to millions, New York Times bestselling author Bob Goff reassures readers that they can harness today's distractions, follow Jesus' example, and find focus, purpose, and joy.
You probably know what it's like to be driving down the road when you suddenly feel the vibration and hear the guh-guh-guh-guh-guh of the rumble strips--those grooves in the pavement--warning you that you've drifted out of your lane. You didn't mean to get distracted. You only took your eyes off the road for a moment, but you drifted off course. And that's a lot like life, isn't it?
In Undistracted, Bob Goff lovingly yanks us back in our lane and helps us get back on track so we can live our lives with real purpose and joy. Bob's inspiring and entertaining stories show us what it looks like to live a beautiful and purposeful life rather than drifting aimlessly from one season to the next. He encourages us to fix our eyes on Jesus and harness life's distractions so we can find joy despite our circumstances.
The Bell Choir, under the leadership of Nancy Docksey, is adding names to those interested in being a part of this music ministry. If you haven’t yet signed up, contact her in person at the 10:45 service welcome time or by phone or text (303-877-9085).
