Lent is almost here—a season that invites us to slow down, tell the truth about our lives, and open ourselves again to God’s renewing grace. We begin this holy season with ashes, honesty, and hope.
From Ash Wednesday through Easter, we invite you to journey with us at Castle Rock First United Methodist Church through worship, study, and shared community as we prepare our hearts for resurrection hope.
Ash Wednesday February 18th:
✝️ Ashes to Go8:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m.Corner of Wilcox & 4th StreetIf you’re unable to attend the evening service, stop by for Ashes to Go—a brief moment of prayer and ashes offered in the midst of daily life. God meets us wherever we are.
🕯 Ash Wednesday Worship ServiceFebruary 18 at 6:30 p.m. | Sanctuary
Join us for a meaningful service of prayer, scripture, and the imposition of ashes as we remember who we are and whose we are. Following the service, you are invited to stay and help with Knot Again, a hands-on opportunity to serve together as we begin our Lenten journey.

📖 Journey Through Matthew: A Lenten Reading Plan
Throughout Lent, we also invite you to join us in a daily Scripture practice as we journey through the Gospel of Matthew together. Beginning on Ash Wednesday, this reading plan guides us through one chapter (or selected portion) each weekday, allowing space on weekends for rest and reflection. As Matthew is our featured lectionary Gospel this year, this plan helps us immerse ourselves more deeply in the life, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus. By spending just a few minutes a day with Scripture, we will walk the full Gospel story and arrive at Easter grounded in the hope and promise of resurrection. There are copies avaible in the welcome area.
Whether you join us once or walk with us through the entire season, know this: you are welcome here. Lent is not about having it all together—it’s about trusting that God is still at work, even in the dust and ashes.
If you have questions or would like help getting connected, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I would love to walk this Lenten journey with you.
Grace and peace,
Pastor Matt
