Looking for Giving Tree Angels
Thanks to all who have contributed to the gift requests for the South Elementary children. Those gifts need to be returned by this Sunday, December 8. Tags for monetary gifts/donations to be given to nursing homes are now available for pickup. This is a change from previous years when we shopped for individual gifts. Anonymous donors have already purchased requested items to fill Christmas stockings for residents of Silver Heights. Donation tags currently available will pay for the following: dementia products including memory games, activity boards, puzzles, and cognitive crafts for the memory care unit at Brookside. Donations will also pay for grocery cards purchased through the church for South Ridge Elementary (for which the church will receive a 5% return from the grocer). If you are able to contribute, please tag your check “giving tree.” Questions? Marcia Schmid at schmid3@comcast.net or. Bonnie Thompson at bjthompson1965@msn.com
Little Blessings Christmas Program will be held in the church Sanctuary on Thursday, December 12 at 10 am and again at 6 pm. It doesn’t really feel like Christmas until you hear the little ones singing. Come cheer them on as they put a smile on your face and a glow in your heart.
It’s a “win-win” when you use your Safeway or King Soopers community card to purchase nonperishables for our December Reverse Advent Calendar for Help and Hope. 5% of your money spent is returned to the church. And it’s a “win-win-win” if you pay with a card that provides airline miles or other perks. Lists of items for each week can be picked up at the Welcome Desk.
Tuesday Morning Bible Study Group will begin their Advent study on November 19 with Adam Hamilton’s Prepare the Way for the Lord as its guiding text. Contemporary Issues Advent Session
The Christmas Letters, by Magrey R. Devega
In The Christmas Letters, Magrey deVega invites you to hear about the miracle of Christ’s birth through the New Testament Epistles, which reflect the early church’s efforts to comprehend and and celebrate the Incarnation. This Advent by engaging with letters like Romans, 1 John, Philippians, and Colossians, you can deepen your understanding of Jesus both fully human and fully divine, and experience the profound meaning of His coming.

Wednesday: Philippians 1:3-11
Thursday: Luke 3:1-6
Prayer:
God who comforts our minds and hearts in times of worry and fear, we choose to bring our concerns into your peaceful presence. Just as Jesus proclaimed peace to the wind and the waves, we proclaim peace over our minds, our relationships, our community, our neighbors, and the world. Make us laborers of peace, partnering with you to create a world of justice and peace. We know where there is no justice, peace does not prevail. May your peace, justice, and love reign. Amen.
